The Interventional Cardiology Program at Brigham and Women鈥檚 Hospital (BWH) provides the complete spectrum of diagnostic tests and non-surgical interventional treatments for patients with cardiovascular diseases such as congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, heart valve disease and peripheral artery disease.
Board-certified interventional cardiologists at BWH鈥檚 Heart & Vascular Center perform 4,000 non-invasive, catheter-based procedures each year, including angioplasty and stenting and trans-catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). They lead a team of multidisciplinary specialists, collaborating with cardiovascular anesthesiology and radiology, endovascular surgery, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery. Along with experienced nurses and specially trained technicians, these specialists provide high quality, innovative care for patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions. This clinical expertise is enhanced by the team鈥檚 access to the best in medical technology at our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility located within the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
At BWH, we are dedicated to training the next generation of interventional cardiologists through our Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program. Our interventional cardiologists鈥 faculty at Harvard Medical School鈥攁re also physician-researchers who have led national and international clinical trials, offering patients the opportunity for new therapies not available elsewhere.
