How to Apply for the Harvard-Brigham Research Fellowship in Hospital Medicine

We are currently accepting applications for July 2026.

Eligibility

Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in internal medicine by July 1 of their first fellowship year. In addition, due to federal regulations based on our funding, applicants are required to be U.S. citizens or have permanent U.S. residence status at the time of the application. Applicants are screened on the basis of their career goals and on the recommendations of faculty from their medical schools and residency programs.

How To Apply

The application is through the . Each application must include:

    • Select “Brigham and Women’s Hospital Medicine Fellowship” when ranking the fellowship sites
  • Applicant's current CV
  • Three letters of recommendation submitted by faculty who are familiar with the applicant's qualifications (one letter must be from the Director of your current or most recent clinical training program)
  • Applicant’s Personal Statement (part of the application)

Key Program Dates

  • July 7th, 2025 - Application deadline for 2026
  • September 2025 - Candidate interviews for 2026
  • Early November 2025 - Applicants will be notified of admissions decision
  • December 1, 2026 (anticipated) - Application deadline for 2026 Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Master's Program
  • February 1, 2026 (anticipated) - Application deadline for 2026 Program in Clinical Effectiveness (non-degree applicants)
  • July 1, 2026 - 2026 Fellowship begins

Interviews and Selection Process

During the interviews, candidates will have the opportunity to learn about the various program components, faculty interests, and career opportunities.

Fellows who are accepted into the Program are then required to complete a formal application to the Master of Public Health program and the Program for Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health by December 1st, prior to their fellowship year.
